TNG was my first entry into the Star Trek universe and will always have a special place in my heart. I have a lot of memories as a little kid of the show and playing with the galoob toys, and later the Playmates figures. There’s no denying the impact it had on me in those formative years, and was easily the most adult thing I was allowed to watch as a kid. Being exposed to that maturity along with other forms of media helped me understand the art of good storytelling, and TNG is one of those pillars of entertainment that will always stand the test of time.
This quote from Picard in “Peak Performance” is one of the most important lessons we learn from him. It’s a reminder to keep things in perspective and to understand a bump in the road isn’t the end of a journey. I drew inspiration loosely from Bill Sienkewicz who did some covers to the DC star trek TNG comics, among other works I’ve enjoyed, more of an homage to him than a direct replica because this is nowhere near what he does (so emphasis on inspired but not executed a la Bill).
