Artist Susan Kelly has always been ‘Trek-adjacent’ as she was raised by Trekkie parents- and due to the  lockdown, finally had a chance to watch Star Trek and have her own Encounter at Farpoint. Immediately enamored by the crew of the Enterprise-D, there was one character that drew her in with her mystery and kindness, Guinan. Susan finds it so interesting that even after all this time, there’s still so much that is unknown about Guinan and her people. By utilizing a combination of glass that has a color-shift effect and hidden rainbows, Susan plays off of what we think we see- and what could actually be hiding in plain sight.

The piece is stained glass mosaic, with dark grey grout on a wood base. Featuring about 200 individual glass pieces and 18”x24”.
