I have always loved sci-fi and space sciences,  I have memories of consuming the topic in the library and watching the original. Star Trek series as a child  and watching them on reruns time and again on BBC2. Then in the late eighties we heard that there was anew series but we didn’t get to watch it till much later than when it first aired in the US, so by the time it aired here I was already sold on it. It had a Captain that unusually for a US sci-fi had a British accent, a multi ethnic and species crew and it was a future that you kind of wanted to happen.
